Make-Up and Masks. Just a year ago, who would have thought we’d be chatting about what make-up to wear with our face masks?!

But here we are, and fortunately for you, we’ve got you covered…

1. Start with a clean slate

Adjusting your beauty routine to incorporate a swathe of fabric across half of your face is no laughing matter – especially with the rise in maskne (mask-related acne). So start by ensuring your skin is as clean and as well looked after as can be.

2. Go easy on the layers

After moisturizing and applying sunscreen, try to keep your makeup as light as possible. Instead of foundation all over your face, use some concealer only where needed. If you really want to use a foundation, opt for a long-wear, smudge-proof one so that it doesn’t transfer onto your mask.

3. See eye to eye

Your eyes are now by default your most prominent feature on your face (besides your mask), so pay special attention to highlighting them. Eye shadow, eyeliner and good quality mascara are essential.

4. Don’t neglect your brows

Unruly brows can stand out, even more, when half your face is covered. So take a few minutes to neaten up those brows. After plucking any stray hairs, use a brow gel or pencil to fill in any sparse areas.

5. Ditch the lipstick

Opt for balm instead of lipstick to keep your lips hydrated and your mask free from lipstick stains. If you’re planning on taking off your mask at some point, and want to add a little extra color to those lips, simply keep a tube of lip gloss or a lip liner on hand.
