The Single Most Important Life Practice

“The single most important life practice is gratitude.” – Oprah Winfrey

Journaling and expressing gratitude became a constant in her life, mostly from the 1990s.

Below she explains why and how to start your gratitude journal:

Daily gratitude is something that is necessary and should be practiced every day – because making space for appreciating what you already have, opens you up for a happier more fulfilled existence.

I guarantee you that those blessings just keep flowing – this is the truth – it’s a law.

What you focus on in your life expands.

So focusing on what you’re grateful for increases positive vibrations and feelings of joy. Just one good feeling builds on another good feeling and another, and another.

And if you actively appreciate all that you have in life no matter how small it is, what you notice is that you end up having more, and when you keep focusing on what you don’t have you never have enough.

So being grateful I’ve learned, allows us to fill in the cracks and crevices between what we desire and what we already have, so that we can pave the way for grace to show up and lead to an even better life.

How do you make gratitude a habit?

By keeping a gratitude journal.

Every day for years now I write down 5 things that I am grateful for. I believe you have to write them down because there is power in the written word.

These 5 can be anything big or small, some days those things will come easy you know like a chat with a close friend or having a loved one cook you dinner or bring you a cup of tea.

But some days it might be difficult to even think of anything and that’s completely normal.

When things don’t easily come to mind go back to your breath because if you breathe in you ought to be grateful – know that you have that.

Simply opening your eyes in the morning and having that breath is a gift.

Gratitude is a posture of your heart.
A choice and a privilege.
So I hope that you’ll make the choice to initiate a daily gratitude practice if you haven’t already.

I’ve been saying it for years because this I know for sure.

Appreciating & noting the delights that show up in your life will ensure more goodness is coming your way.

Mums, do you practice daily gratitude?

Indeed and that I have noticed. Let’s be greatful of what we have as there’s somebody out there who wishes to have at least half of what we have.

Appreciating life, raising my super handsome son, the great family I have. God has been absolutely amazing to me, I am grateful for everything He has done for me thus far. His grace is sufficient

What a good article on gratitude, my family and I have a weekly tradition of expressing gratitude. Once a week, on Fridays we say what we are grateful for. However we have not been consistent, after reading this will make sure to be consistent. I think will implement the idea of writing down daily what I am grateful for as this will change the way I see things. For sure what you focus on grows.

I have learnt to appreciate what I have ,just waking up everyday in good health and being able to work for my family and to provide for them is enough for me.

I have 2 children, age 7 and age 4 and the best part of being a mom is the unconditional love we have for each other.❤️
