Water-Rich Foods That Will Keep You Hydrated

Experts recommend drinking 8 glasses of water per day to meet your hydration needs. While drinking water is extremely important, you can also get water from certain foods.

Watermelon (water content: 92%)

Watermelon is extremely healthy and one of the most hydrating foods you can eat. 1 cup of watermelon contains over half a cup of water along with vitamin C, vitamin A, and magnesium.

Watermelon is also low in calories, providing only 46 calories per cup. You can add watermelon into your diet as a fresh snack or side dish, it is also commonly used as a component in salads.

Strawberries (water content: 91%)

Along with having a high water content, strawberries provide lots of fiber, antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. Eating strawberries on a regular basis can reduce inflammation which in turn will protect your body against heart disease and diabetes.

It is easy to include them into your diet, you can either blend them in a smoothie, eat them as a snack or add them to a salad.

Cucumber (water content: 95%)

Cucumbers are almost entirely made up of water and also provide a small number of nutrients such as vitamin K, potassium, and magnesium. Cucumbers are one of the lowest water-rich foods in calories.

They are easy to incorporate into your diet, cucumbers are usually added to salads and sandwiches or can be eaten alone as a snack.

Zucchini (water content: 94%)

Grapefruit (water content: 88%)

    My niece won’t touch her water unless I pop in pieces of colourful fruits inside. On hot days I make fruit popsicles and lately I’ve been experimenting with fruit slushies, she absolutely loves watermelon and mango slushie with a sprig of mint.

    I always drink water and eat lots of cucumber to keep hydrated, and that helps with my metabolism, besides adding cucumbers on salads, when I feel hungry I just snack on cucumber.
