Easy Way To Cook Rice in Your Microwave

White Rice:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of white rice
  • 2 cups of water
  • Pinch of salt (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. Place the rinsed rice, water, and salt (if using) in a microwave-safe container with a lid.
  3. Cover the container loosely with the lid to allow steam to escape.
  4. Microwave on high for 10 minutes.
  5. Carefully remove the container from the microwave using oven mitts, and let it sit for 5 minutes to allow the rice to steam and absorb any excess moisture.
  6. Fluff the rice with a fork and serve!

Basmati Rice:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of basmati rice
  • 1 ¾ cups of water
  • 1 teaspoon of oil or ghee
  • Pinch of salt (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the rinsed rice, water, oil or ghee, and salt (if using).
  3. Cover the bowl with a microwave-safe plate or microwave-safe cling wrap, leaving a small vent to let the steam escape.
  4. Microwave on medium-high power for 12-15 minutes, depending on your microwave’s wattage. Check the rice after 10 minutes and adjust the cooking time accordingly.
  5. Allow the rice to rest for 5 minutes before fluffing it with a fork and serving.

Brown Rice:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of brown rice
  • 2 ½ cups of water
  • Pinch of salt (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Rinse the brown rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. Place the rinsed rice, water, and salt (if using) in a microwave-safe container with a lid.
  3. Cover the container loosely with the lid to allow steam to escape.
  4. Microwave on medium power for 25-30 minutes, checking and stirring the rice after 15 minutes to ensure even cooking.
  5. Let the rice sit for 5 minutes after microwaving to allow it to finish steaming.
  6. Fluff with a fork and serve!

Quinoa:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of quinoa
  • 2 cups of water or vegetable broth
  • Pinch of salt (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Rinse the quinoa under cold water using a fine mesh strainer.
  2. Combine the rinsed quinoa, water or vegetable broth, and salt (if using) in a microwave-safe bowl.
  3. Cover the bowl with microwave-safe cling wrap, leaving a small vent for steam to escape.
  4. Microwave on medium power for 12-15 minutes, or until the quinoa has absorbed all the liquid.
  5. Allow the quinoa to sit for 5 minutes, then fluff it with a fork and serve.
